Small Business Web Design

Over two years in development,
Web Design Mastery
is your complete guide to learning professional Web Design... Specially designed for small businesses, it is packed with the exact information you need to succeed.

A website is a must for small businesses today.   When it comes to designing your website you have two options: do-it-yourself or pay somebody else.  If you feel comfortable with graphics and website building software you can design your site from scratch, or you can use a pre-designed template.  If you decide to tackle the job yourself, it helps to have a basic knowledge of HTML.   Although a good software package like Dreamweaver or Microsoft Frontpage will make the job relatively easy, knowing some HTML will give you more flexibility and and an insider view of what these programs do.

Regardless of how do you implement your site, there are some basic web design guidelines to consider.  The three most important things that users want from a site are:

It helps, therefore, to keep your web design simple, and to avoid anything that distracts the user, makes your site difficult to navigate, and makes your pages too heavy.

If you are thinking of designing a new site, or want to revamp an existing site, make sure that you follow good web design practices.  You can start by downloading and reading my free special report:

If you want to design your site yourself, you may also want to purchase Web Design Mastery, an e-book by Shelley Lowery, heralded as the bible of web design.

You may also want to read some good books about web design.  Two good books that deal with user-friendly design are Designing Web Usability, by Jakob Nielsen, and Don't Make Me Think, by Steve Krug.  Another great book that underscores the importance of simplicity in web design is Simple Web Sites, by Stefan Mumaw.

If you thoroughly enjoy web design and learn enough to consider becoming a web designer yourself, you can read Start Your Own Home-Based Website Design Business, an e-book by Mark Frank.
